Overview

QinetiQ needed a Change Control Board app to manage change requests, track scheduled changes, assign IT resources, capture business justification, and support review or approval activity. The solution needed to make change items easier to search, filter, review, and discuss.

Challenge

  • Change requests were tracked across disconnected methods.
  • No clear visibility of affected systems, scheduled dates, or scheduling conflicts.
  • No structured place for review discussion on each change item.

Solution

MSPowerhouse built a custom CCB Power App connected to a SharePoint list. The app displayed change requests in a dashboard-style gallery and allowed users to filter by status, search by title, and filter by conflicted scheduled dates. Each change card showed key information such as system, date requested, scheduled date, requested by, IT resource, and description.

The app supported creating, viewing, and editing CCB items. It also included admin approval behavior for draft or pending review items and a comment/chat-style section where users could add timestamped comments to the change record.

Technical Execution

  • Dashboard gallery with status filter, title search, and date-conflict filter.
  • CCB cards showing system, dates, requestor, IT resource, and description.
  • Create / view / edit flows with admin approval for draft/pending items.
  • Timestamped comment section for collaboration on each change.

Outcome

The client received a centralized CCB app that improved visibility into active and pending changes. Users could review change details, identify scheduling conflicts, track status, and collaborate directly within the change record.

Impact

The app helped formalize the client's change management process. Instead of relying on scattered communications, change requests could be captured, reviewed, discussed, and tracked in a single Power Platform solution.
