Overview
Effective Philanthropy Advisors needed to move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. The organization had a small user base, but the migration still required careful planning because email, file storage, permissions, and Microsoft 365 setup all needed to be completed cleanly with minimal disruption.
Challenge
- Move Google Workspace email, Drive, users, and permissions into Microsoft 365 cleanly.
- Small footprint, but no room for precision errors during migration.
- Establish data classification from day one to support governance.
Solution
MSPowerhouse planned and executed the Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migration, including user setup, email migration, file migration, and Microsoft 365 configuration. The Google Drive content was moved into the Microsoft 365 environment while preserving the structure as closely as possible. MSPowerhouse also configured data classification to help the client start using Microsoft 365 with better governance and clearer information management.
Technical Execution
- Planned and executed the Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migration end-to-end.
- Migrated Gmail and Drive content while preserving structure as closely as possible.
- Configured Microsoft 365 setup, user accounts, and licensing.
- Implemented data classification to support information management from the start.
Outcome
The client successfully migrated to Microsoft 365 with fewer than 10 users and approximately 50GB or less of data. MSPowerhouse completed the migration in a controlled manner, helped establish the Microsoft 365 foundation, and configured data classification so the client could manage information more effectively after the move.
Impact
For smaller organizations, a migration can still create confusion when email, files, permissions, and security settings are not handled correctly. MSPowerhouse gave the client a clean transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 while also improving the structure and governance of the new environment.
